This got me to thinking and so I figured I would throw a few out there. Feel free to let me know of any that always stay with you (but since only about 2 people read my blog and one of them is my old lady I am not expecting an extensive comment list. anyway, here we go - my top five in no particular order:

1. The scene in Shawshank when he crawls through that sewer line of absolute filth and then bust out into the creek...something about that scene. This is probably the most memorable scene from my favorite movie of all time so I have to have it on my list.

2. The scene in Rocky IV right before he fights the Russian...I am always so pumped up at this point I feel like I can bring the pain to anyone, then I look at my muscles and quickly fall back to earth.

3. The scene in Gladiator when he sees his home and family burned

4. The scene in seven when that guy is in the whore house after being forced to wear that device...I dont know what else to say about that one.

and the w for me is:

5. The scene in Saw when that little clown guy/doll rolls into that room. That scares the absolute crap out of me, I start turning on lights and trying to tell jokes to myself in my head. It is messing now just writing about it.

Busy Season

I have been at work for 30 of the last 35 hours and have a few more to go before I leave. If I want to go out and throw a few cold guys back I dont need New Years Eve to tell me to do that. I was in San Angelo and played 42 most of the night and that was fine by me.

Resolution 1 - To lose less than 30% in my 401K (thanks '08 for setting the bar low)

Resolution 2 - Learn to identify all trees native to TEXAS. I got a field guide for all North American Trees and figured I need to put it to good use. Call me a dork I dont care.........I like trees.

Resolution 3 - Get in better shape. Again this is grasping for some low hanging fruit. Currently my diet consist of Ice Cold Rocky Mountain Keyston Light, Pizza, and ridiculous amounts of Mexican Food and my exercise is getting my heart rate up once a month with about ten pushups in my house.

Resolution 4 - For one of the Dallas teams to make it past the first round of the playoffs. I know I have little controls over this unless the players can hear me yelling at them through my TV but oh well I stand by it.

Resolution 5 - Improve my rib cooking skills. I love to grill out but I dont think I cook a very good rack of ribs. I also tried to make my own BBQ sauce one time and it sucked so I'll add that to the list to compliment my ribs.

Resolution 6 - Go to one Cowboys game in '09 at the new stadium.

Resolution 7 - Buy the Cowboys. This may be stretching it a little but if I can do this number 6 will be an easy winner and I will have a little more control over number 4. This three game Romoless run has aged me well beyond my years, I have started each of the last three games with Chris Collier like optimism and love for America's Team only to find myself pissed off and screaming at the tv six minutes into the game.

--Whoever thought of trick or treating? I wish I could just go around to my neighbors house and ask for a steak, that would be awesome. Also, I dont think that kids should get candy unless they dress up (too cool for costumes = too cool for my delicious candy).

--I hate big cities. Everyone looks like a bunch of ants on the highways.

--November may be the best month of the year, it is definitely in the top 12(hiiiiiiooohhhhhhh!!!). The deer start to rut, football season is going on, basketball is starting up, the leaves are turning, and you get to eat tons of food on Thanksgiving (thanks pilgrims).

--I went hunting this weekend and it was hotter than blue blazes....maybe that is why I didnt see anything (oh well, still nice to get off the concrete).

--Why do people not look at each other when crossing in a hall or riding in an elevator? I always try to give them the stare down to see if they will look up, most dont but some do and it leads to some awesomely awkward looks/headnods.

--Does anyone else think the smell of the lake is one of the top five smells of all time? I do so thats about it on that.

--I heard at church the other day that the ACU football team was having a good year. Do yall think he was talking about GSP team 1? He wasnt very specific so I'll assume that was it.

--How about that stock market....that sucks!! I could rant for pages about this but I'll just say that it is ridiculous and you want to discuss with me feel free to call but pack a lunch.

--I am starting to hate email. I believe that email makes many things much more convenient but also causes people to be so unproductive (kinda like writing in my blog) that it negates the good that comes from it.

These are my thoughts for now, I apologize if they bored you. --Micah

Funny...but scary

Here is a creative approach to redistribution of wealth as offered in a
local newspaper...

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed. Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

It's On!!!!

Thats right folks, hunting season is now open! So I'll start with something that grinds my gears.....soft drink advertising.

Who are these morons that come up with the marketing ideas, and who are the idiot executives that approve the ideas. First off there is Sprite, it is tasty and prior to their most recent advertising launch I preferred it over 7up. They decided that to make their product more appealing they would have "SubLimenal" advertising and have a freak show commercial with mouths as eyelids drinking sprite. Now Coke has started labeling in all languages with crazy colors, I guess this one is not that big of a deal but I am a classic kind of guy and thought "you can't beat the real thing" was working just fine. And then there is Dr. Pepper and the "23 Flavors". What? This is a load of crap, some jackass in there marketing department tossed an arbitrary number out there and I am supposed to think there are now 23 flavors. Dr Pepper has one flavor, DELICIOUS, and they should leave it at that!

Doodle

Blanked

Last Saturday myself, Bart, Unkie Larry, and my cousin's husband, Bridger, went out to Fobb Bottom to see if we could make it three straight. as you can tell from the title of this post it sucked, we only caught one fish. We started off by going back to the spot that I caught the big cat but the wind was out of the north and would have whipped us all day. We didnt realize how strong the wind was though until we had carried all of our crap down to the shore and if any of you have ever gone fishing with Big Mike you know how much stuff he likes to bring. After packing back up we went over the Fobb Bottom on the Oklahoma side of the lake. It was a pretty chilly morning with the overcast and wind but my 1:00 the sun was out and it was a nice day. No wild stories to mention like last time but we had a nice catch. 11 total fish were dominated, 7 were brought back to Texas (the other 4 were drums and we tossed them back) We caught 3 blue cats, 3 sandbass, and 1 striper. I'll chalk this one up as a victory for the good guys...... Tally to date: Doodle 2 - Texoma 0

Fat Cat

Last weekend my buddy Neildo, myself, and the old ladies went out to Lake Texoma to try our hand at catching a few fish. It is pretty early in the season and still pretty cold so expectations were low. The day started off with a little saning for some ghost minnows.

The day was awesome, about 65 degrees with no wind. The lack of wind was nice for the rest of the day but it made getting minnows difficult. After about 8 passes we only had about 20 minnows but being the worlds most out of shape man we started fishing.

After baiting up and cracking open a cold guy it didn't take long and we started getting a few bites. I think I pulled in the first fish of the day, a decent size striper, and we were on a roll. A little while later Neildo got a bite, he set the hook and started reeling, much to his suprise his reel wasn't set on his pole very well and it came off in the middle of the catch. I jumped up and held his pole while Neildo had the reel in one hand and reeled the fish in with the other.

An hour or so later we were still sitting around and enjoying the day when my pole had a big hit on it. I grabbed it set the hook and the fight was on. I could tell I had a good one but did not expect what came next. The fish started jumping as I was bringing it in but I still didn't expect to see this...

I got this beast about 2 ft from the bank and my line snapped. Neildo and I jumped into the water and started to roll it up on the bank. Once I got it home and put it on the scales it weighed in at exactly 50lbs!!! This was by far the biggest cat I have ever caught.

The rest of the trip was quite successful we ended up with 8 stripers, 3 sandbass, and 2 blue cats (including the beast above). I'll put up some pics of the rest of the catch later.
